Senior Software Engineer - Generative AI

About the Role

Design and deploy AI-powered applications leveraging LLMs, prompt engineering, and orchestration frameworks at Pearson's Sri Lanka technology centre. Build scalable agent-based workflows and integrate LLM solutions into production educational platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain AI applications using LLMs and frameworks like LangGraph or LangChain
• Build and optimise prompt strategies for accuracy and cost efficiency
• Architect agent-based workflows and multi-step reasoning systems
• Integrate LLM solutions into scalable backend systems and APIs
• Evaluate and monitor AI models for performance and reliability
• Ensure security, compliance, and responsible AI practices
• Establish best practices for AI engineering and experimentation
• Optimise system performance, latency, and cost

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• 4–7+ years of software engineering experience with AI/ML or LLM systems
• Strong prompt engineering and LLM API expertise
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and cloud environments (preferably AWS)
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and security
