About the Role
The British Council Sri Lanka is recruiting a Senior Teacher for Young Learners on a 24-month contract to provide line management to teaching staff, deliver professional development programmes, and ensure high-quality English language teaching.
Responsibilities
- Provide line management and guidance to teaching staff through observations and performance reviews
- Develop and deliver annual professional development programmes aligned with regional standards
- Ensure teaching frameworks and safeguarding policies are understood and applied across the centre
- Support recruitment, induction and mentoring of new or transitioning teachers
- Collaborate with operations and customer service teams on academic matters
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree with Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL
- Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Diploma TESOL (or British Council-recognized equivalent)
- TYLEC or equivalent young learner teaching qualification
- Minimum 2 years post-diploma teaching experience
- 800+ hours teaching Lower Secondary (ages 11-14)
- 400+ hours teaching Upper Secondary (ages 15-17)
