Senior AI Engineering Manager

About the Role

Lead and manage a Colombo-based AI engineering team overseeing AI system architecture, LLM deployment, and RAG pipeline development for an international AI product company.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor AI/software engineering team in Colombo
• Oversee scalable AI software architecture design and implementation
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical coaching
• Recruit, interview, and onboard engineering talent
• Drive engineering best practices and production-grade AI systems
• Collaborate with international teams across multiple time zones
• Balance rapid product development with architectural quality

Requirements

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• ~10 years professional software engineering experience
• 2-4 years practical AI engineering experience
• Prior team leadership/management experience
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems
• Experience with cloud-based and on-premise AI platforms
• Agile methodology expertise
• Experience with open-source models (Llama, Qwen, Mistral, Gemma, DeepSeek) preferred
