Assistant Manager – Legal

About the Role

In-house legal role at Daraz Sri Lanka (Alibaba Group) covering commercial contracts, IP, data privacy, consumer protection, and company secretarial matters, with regional collaboration across South Asia and the Alibaba group legal team.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including customer-facing terms, partnerships, marketing, technology, supply, and data protection agreements
• Provide operational legal support on IP, consumer protection, data privacy, IT security, payments, and disputes
• Correspond with regulators and attend Consumer Affairs Authority inquiries
• Court representation and external counsel coordination
• Handle company secretarial matters and lease agreement management
• Collaborate with regional legal teams in Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Alibaba group entities

Requirements

• Attorney-at-Law with Bachelor's degree in Law
• Notary Public certification (preferred, not mandatory)
• 3-5 years relevant legal experience
• Background from top-tier law firms or reputed in-house positions preferred
• Experience in trade, corporate/commercial, IP, data privacy, M&A, or consumer protection
• Technology or e-commerce industry background preferred
